Hyundai, a major player in the Indian automotive market, has launched the updated Alcazar. The price range starts from ₹16.75 Lakhs ex-showroom. As the new emission regulations are approaching, Hyundai has made several tweaks to the Alcazar to comply with the latest emission standards. Hyundai has tweaked the aesthetics of Alcazar, which has enhanced its looks. Hyundai Alcazar is now equipped with more features to make it even more attractive to its buyers. The company has already started taking bookings for the updated Alcazar, and customers can reserve their vehicle either at a Hyundai showroom or online. With its improved performance, updated design, and advanced features, the Alcazar is set to make a strong impression in the Indian SUV market.

Updates in the MY’23 Hyundai Alcazar

Hyundai Alcazar is a 7-seater SUV based on the K2 platform which shares its underpinnings with its other siblings such as the i20, Creta, and Venue. The new Alcazar boasts a slew of significant cosmetic changes to distinguish it from its previous iteration. Hyundai Alcazar sports a bold new grille giving it a masculine look. And a new puddle lamp with an Alcazar emblem projection that enhances its styling. As part of the updates for the MY’23, Hyundai has made 6 airbags (Driver, Passenger, Side & Curtain) a standard feature for customers who buy the Alcazar, while also introducing the Idle Stop & Go feature as a stock fitment for better fuel efficiency. Meanwhile, the features like the ESC, TPMS, 360-degree camera, blind view monitor, 4-disc brakes, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless phone charger, automatic climate control, cruise control, etc. are carried forward from its previous model.

Updates in the Powertrain

Hyundai has updated the powertrains in order to appeal to its customers. These updated powertrains are compliant with the new BS6 phase-2 RDE emission norms and are capable to run with the E20 blended fuel. The base engine is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel engine that churns out 115 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. This engine can be availed with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or an automatic transmission. However, the real showstopper is the exhilarating 1.5-liter four-cylinder T-GDI turbo petrol engine delivering a whopping 160 horsepower and 253 Nm of torque output. The new engine can be availed with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-Speed Dual Clutch Transmission. Hyundai claims that the new T-GDI powertrain is a blend of performance and fuel efficiency, with the DCT version delivering 18 km/l and the Manual counterpart delivering 17.5 km/l. However, Hyundai has pulled the plug off the previous 2.0L naturally aspirated petrol engine.

Pricing and Competition

Hyundai has updated the price range of Alcazar. The base variant Prestige starts at ₹16.75 Lakhs Ex-Showroom. Despite being the entry-level trim, the Prestige still comes with a host of standard features that are necessary for convenience and a safe driving experience. Moving up the ladder, the Platinum variant is priced at ₹18.65 Lakhs Ex-Showroom, and buyers have the option to add a premium of ₹1.31 Lakhs for the DCT gearbox and second-row captain seats. The range-topping Signature variant is available in both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations, with a price tag of ₹20.25 Lakhs Ex-Showroom. Compared to the previous model, the new Alcazar has seen a price hike of up to ₹65,000/-
With several enhancements in aesthetics and technicalities, Hyundai Alcazar is ready to take on fierce competition from the likes of Kia Carens, Mahindra Xuv700, Tata Safari, Mahindra Marazzo, and MG Hector.
