We have always thought of the Nissan X-Trail as a well sorted out SUV. The X-Trail is the first car that Nissan India launched and has been on sale in our country since some time now. However, the X-Trail could never really manage to have a good showing on the sales charts.
One of the biggest reasons for this might be the ‘soft’ styling that doesn’t have the road presence of . . say. .a Toyota Fortuner. Another big reason could be the lack of third row of seats.
It is being said that all this would be a thing of the past with the next generation X-Trail that Nissan is readying. The styling of the new X-Trail would be based on the Hi-Cross Concept that was showcased at Geneva Motor Show last year. The car would also be a genuine seven seater.
While the next generation X-Trail is still some time away from being launched, Nissan has launched a mildly updated X-Trail in Malayasian car market. The updated car comes with a revised front bumper, a new front grill and revised headlamps with LED fixtures.
The tail lamps too get the LED treatment.
On the inside, the car gets black interiors that have a 6 inch touchscreen multimedia infotainment system with navigation, reverse camera, Bluetooth, USB and iPod connectivity.
Powering the car in the Malaysian market is a 2.0 litre petrol engine that is mated to a X-CVT automatic gearbox. The car goes on sale with a sticker price of 148,000 Malaysian Ringgit.
It isn’t for sure if the updated car would come to us.
