Following the recent debut of the Tekton, Nissan is actively developing a new seven-seater derivative to strengthen its presence in the competitive SUV market. Fresh spy shots of the upcoming three-row SUV have surfaced from public road testing, revealing significant styling revisions at both ends. The most notable change is located at the rear, where Nissan has integrated a completely redesigned tail-lamp cluster for this extended variant.
Positioned above the standard five-seater Tekton, the new model features an elongated rear section designed to accommodate the third row of seats. Despite the heavy camouflage on the test mule, several key design attributes are easily discernible.
Longer rear section
The wheelbase is expected to stay close to the standard Tekton. The five-seater has a 2,657mm wheelbase, and carrying this forward could help Nissan control development costs.
However, the body behind the rear doors appears noticeably longer.

The longer rear section also changes the shape of the rear quarter area. The C-pillar appears more upright, while the roofline looks flatter towards the back. A larger rear-quarter glass can also be seen through the camouflage.
New tail lamp design
The rear lighting is one of the clearest changes on this test vehicle. The C-shaped LED design seen on the five-seater Tekton appears to have been replaced.
The new SUV gets a boomerang-style LED signature that stretches downwards. There also appears to be a thicker light element running between the two tail lamps. It is not clear yet whether this will be one continuous light bar or a set of LED elements.
At the front, the inverted L-shaped DRLs and reflector-type LED headlights can still be seen. The camouflage hides most of the bumper and grille, so some changes could be made before production.
Three-row cabin
The major change inside will be the addition of a third row. Nissan could offer a proper three-row arrangement or use a 5+2 layout with limited space in the last row.
Some expected cabin additions could include:
- Sliding second-row seats
- Reclining second-row seats
- Extra storage areas
- Additional rear AC functions
- More comfort features for third-row passengers
The final seating arrangement and equipment list are yet to be confirmed.
Engine and gearbox options
The powertrain range could be shared with the Duster and Tekton, although the smaller 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine may not be offered with the larger SUV.
The 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine is expected to be one of the main options. A 1.8-litre naturally aspirated petrol strong-hybrid setup could also be considered, similar to the Duster.

Nissan has already expanded its SUV range with the Gravite and Tekton. The seven-seater Tekton will give the brand another option in a segment where buyers are looking for more cabin space without moving to a much larger SUV.
The new model is still under testing, so Nissan is expected to reveal more details closer to its production launch.
