Mahindra’s new Vision S-based production SUV has been spotted testing again, with the latest spy images giving a much clearer picture of its rear design. The SUV was photographed at night, making the LED lighting easier to see despite the camouflage. The production version is expected to be launched in 2027.
The latest images show a boxy rear profile with a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. Slim horizontal LED elements extend inwards from the outer tail lamps, giving the SUV a connected-style rear lighting setup. The spare wheel covers the centre section, so it is still not clear whether the two light elements will form one continuous strip.
What the spy shots show
- Tail lights: Vertical outer units are joined visually by slim horizontal LED strips.
- Spare wheel: The production SUV is expected to carry a spare wheel on the tailgate.
- Rear pillars: Earlier test vehicles showed tall lamps placed near the rear pillars.
- Brake lights: Additional lighting elements can be seen near the sides of the rear windscreen.
- Wheels: Dual-tone alloy wheels are expected on the SUV.
- Design: The test model gets a tall rear windscreen, wide wheel arches and an upright body.
The latest pictures do not confirm whether the horizontal lights will form one continuous strip. The spare wheel blocks the centre section, so the exact production design is still not clear. The function of each lighting element is also yet to be confirmed.
Mahindra is also expected to give the Vision S a new front-end design. Earlier sightings have shown a six-slot grille, wide air dam, fog lamps and redesigned bumpers.
Cabin and features
The cabin is expected to get a two-spoke steering wheel along with a 10.25-inch touchscreen. Other expected features include:
- Dual-zone climate control
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Electronic parking brake with auto-hold
- Vertical triangular AC vents
- Engine start-stop button
- Physical AC controls
- Black seat upholstery
Expected powertrain options
Mahindra has not shared the final engine specifications yet. The NU_IQ platform is designed to support both internal-combustion and electric powertrains.
