The Nissan Sunny is a bit of a bore. Just like the bigger Teana, it is more suited for the man who loves his couch, runs a vacuum cleaner through it every Sunday, feels the best ideas come to his mind, while he’s parked himself on the it trying to read a book (For which Nissan has provided two reading lamps) and would like to carry it with himself, everywhere he travels. Or taxi fleet operators.
But now, Nissan of Malaysia wants a Sunny (Almera in Malaysia) buyer to look sporty as well. So they went ahead and slapped on a NISMO (Nissan’s performance division) kit. The optional NISMO package features more aggressive bumpers with chin spoilers, side skirts, a trunk lid spoiler, a sports exhaust, 16-inch alloy wheels with 205/50 Continental tires. Performance modifications include a mildly re-tuned suspension system for better handling and reduced body roll, apart from a NISMO exhaust system.
The Nismo kit for the Sunny/Almera retails for 9,000 Malaysian Ringgit (about 1.56 lakh INR). With the exhaust and suspension system included, the price increases to 14,000 Malaysian Ringgit (about 2.43 lakh INR). However, the rest of the drive-train has been untouched.
