Nissan Patrol India Launch in the Offing

While Nissan has silently discontinued the X-Trail SUV in the Indian market, a new reports suggests the Japanese auto giant is planning to launch the Patrol SUV in India. The Nissan Patrol is a full size SUV which has a seating capacity for 7 people. The report also mentions the Patrol will be sold in India via the CBU route which will make it somewhat pricey.

The Nissan Patrol features a ladder-on-frame construction and is a four wheel drive SUV. Its quite popular in the Middle-East it takes tourists dune bashing. Powering the Patrol is a big 5.6 liter V8 petrol mill which churns out 400 bhp of max power 550 Nm of twisting force. The Patrol can be ordered with a 5 speed AT, 7 speed AT or a 6 speed MT. India is likely to get the 7 speed AT box.

The Nissan Patrol features ALL MODE 4×4 system incorporating a variable 4×4 mode package. It allows the driver to quickly switch between four drive modes: sand, on-road, snow and rock, with the flick of a switch. In sand mode, owners are able to drive safely, quickly and skillfully in sand and dirt. In addition, the Nissan Patrol also offers a new Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control which can also be selected easily with the touch of a button. Hill Descent Control uses the brakes to maintain a constant downhill speed of 7km/h in 4H mode and 4km/h in 4L mode.
