Honda has been working overtime to get it really right with its upcoming cars. We have always loved Honda cars for their silky smooth and very efficient engine but have also felt that they could have been better priced. Now, it seems like Honda is working on to get rid of all the criticism and it has emerged that it has looked up to employing platform sharing between some of its popular cars to keep the costs low.
Platform sharing helps in keeping the manufacturing and development costs low and also making the component sourcing easier.
We have already been reporting about VW’s plans to use MQB platform in. . . hold your breath. . 40 future models and only recently we talked about Volvo too looking up to platform sharing and using Scalable Platform Architecture for its future cars.
Honda too has been thinking on the same lines and it has emerged that Honda will use the same platform for the next gen Honda Accord, Civic and CR-V, three of its volume generators.
One of the first Honda cars that will use a common platform will be the 2017 Honda Accord.
