Next-Gen Duster Rendered; Launch in 2017

Renderings of the Next-Gen Duster have surfaced on a French magazine. The next edition of the Compact SUV from Renault could be launched in 2017.

Next-Gen Duster Rendering

Auto Plus have posted a few speculative renderings of the Next-Gen Duster on their website. The Duster has been a monstrous success story for Renault, having sold in excess of a million units worldwide ever since its launch. As it approaches its seven-year life-cycle mark, it is set for a refresh. The launch of the Next-Gen Duster should take place sometime in 2017.

According to the rendering, the Renault Duster retains its brawniness. It still has an imposing road presence thanks to its wide stance. Prominent wheel arches, and a strong shoulder line present a very muscular image. However, the Next-Gen Duster should be even more meaner, if the rendering is anything to go by. Instead of large, rectangular headlamps, we notice slimmer ones flanking a dark black engine grille. More drama follows below; the foglamp enclosures have received a redesign in the rendering. We think they are LED Daytime Running Lights in the place of the fog lamps now. Each fog lamp enclosure also houses an air-intake path; notice that the engine grille seems quite small and restricted for that job.

In addition, the Next-Gen Duster will also receive a facelift to the rear tailgate and the tail-lamps. There has been no radical change in the shell shape of the Renault Duster in the rendering. It still exudes a macho personality.

Next-Gen Duster Coming in 2017

But, are the changes suggested by the rendering enough for the Next-Gen Duster to keep up with competitors like Ford Ecosport? The EcoSport also has a mid-life refresh due, but it will take some time longer than the Next-Gen Duster.Moving over the exterior changes, we feel the real decider will be the changes that the Next-Gen Duster will sport inside the cabin. Desirable additions include a new dashboard, plusher upholstery and more equipment as well as features.

Since the upcoming Next-Gen Duster is a mid-life refresh, the chances of it sporting any engine upgrades are slim. In a different piece of news, the Renault Duster 4X4 version will be launched in India in October; check details here
