Recently, VW Group, the German auto giant, announced that the next generation of the Skoda Superb will be launched by the end of next year. The next generation 2016 Skoda Superb will be based on the VW Group’s much publicized MQB platform and could be seen sharing as many as 50 percent of its components with the next gen Volkswagen Passat . The next generation Volkswagen Passat could arrive towards the end of this year and will be a 2015 model. Thanks to opting for the MQB architecture, the next gen Passat would offer more cabin space. Here is a rendering of the next gen 2016 Skoda Superb sedan, which comes from German publication Auto Motor Und Sport.
As can be seen, the rendering shows that the next gen Superb would borrow quite a few cues from the new Octavia. However, going by the fact that Skoda boss Dr. Vahland has earlier said that the next gen Superb will be a “revelation” in terms of style, this comes across as a tad contradictory. Dr. Vahland has also earlier confirmed that the next gen Skoda Superb will not boast of the dual boot release mechanism that is seen on the current model. As we said earlier, this will be done to help keep the car’s cost low.
The next gen Skoda Superb wheelbase would be around 3 inches (75 mm) longer than the current model, which means that there are good chances that the passengers would enjoy even roomier interiors. It is being said that a Skoda official has confirmed that with the next gen Superb, Skoda wishes to target cars from a segment higher.
