The Hyundai i10 2014 is still a few months away from making its public debut and the Korean auto giant has already started testing the next generation 2015 Hyundai i20 in India. The Hyundai i20 was first introduced in international markets way back in 2008 and underwent a facelift last year. It is only obvious then that the development work for the next gen i20 is going on in full swing.
Hyundai i20 facelift came with a comprehensively updated front fascia and new features and the refreshed i20 is much more in-line with other Hyundai cars which have been styled as per carmaker’s fluidic design language. Talking about the new features, the car got a push button start, a reverse camera, automatic day and night rear view mirrors, automatic headlights and rain sensing wipers among other additions.
The next gen i20, test mule of which you can see in these pics, will have a longer wheelbase, marginally more width and even more spacious interiors.
The next gen i20 is expected to make its public debut next year and will come as a 2015 model. While the next gen i20 seems to have got a longer wheelbase, it is unlikely that the overall length of the car will exceed 4 metres. The current i20 measures 3,995mm, which means that the next car might not be longer than the current model. It may be noted that India is an important market for Hyundai and a 4m-plus overall length would mean that the car won’t be eligible for excise duty benefits in our country.
The next gen 2015 Hyundai i20 could be codenamed as the ‘IB’ and could use current i20’s platform.
