New VW Passat spied in Pune, to be launched on 29 March

We told you this back in January, and now after seeing these spy images you could be sure that the new Passat is on its way to India. Interestingly, Volkswagen made its debut in India by launching the Passat. Today VW has established itself in almost all the segments.

In its latest version the Passat gets an overhaul. The overall design has been changed, with a new grille, new headlight and tail light. The insides are also given a makeover with better quality instrument cluster and some more luxury. Possible engine options are a 2.0 Lit TDi diesel offering 170bhp which is 30bhp more than the older engine and the 1.8 TSi petrol with the obvious manual and DSG auto ‘box. Pricing will have to be little more than the previous version.

The old Passat wasn’t really a very successful car in India. Do you think VW can give the likes of the Accord and the Superb some real competition with the new one? Do let us know.
