Toyota has announced that they will unveil the new generation Land Cruiser Prado on August 1, 2023. However, the carmaker will unveil it in the USA and it will go on sale in North American markets for the first time.
This SUV will be called the Land Cruiser in North American markets. But in other markets, it will continue with the Prado badge.

Details of the new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado teaser
In the new teaser, the carmaker has revealed some details of the new Land Cruiser Prado. The new Prado will look like the Lexus GX from a distant sight. But a closer look will reveal the notable differences.
The next-generation Land Cruiser Prado gets a new rectangular grille and a large Toyota logo. Meanwhile, the design of the headlight seems similar to the J60 model of the old Land Cruiser. The Fender design looks squarish in shape, highlighting the rugged character of the SUV.
Also, the new Land Cruiser Prado gets new body panels with a new design. The rear profile of the SUV gets an upright tailgate and the new taillights with clear lens and retro design. All these elements result in a pure SUV with a masculine and retro character.

Platform and Powertrain in the new Prado
Both the Lexus GX and Toyota Land Cruiser Prado will use the new TNGA platform. The new Land Cruiser Prado will share some of the important elements with the Lexus GX. These elements are the platform, off-road gear, interior parts, and a few body panels. However, the final design of the SUV will have the typical Toyota highlights.
Currently, there are no details about the engine and gearbox options of the new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. But we expect that the new Land Cruiser Prado will get petrol and diesel engines with a mild-hybrid system. However, the powertrain options will vary depending on the market.
Launch of the new Land Cruiser Prado in North America
The automaker will sell the new generation of the Land Cruiser Prado for first time in the North American market. However, this model will be positioned above the popular 4runner SUV in the market.
These models are currently on sale in the Asian and Middle East markets including India, UAE, etc. However, Toyota will remove the Prado suffix and will be named as Land Cruiser in North American markets.
Will Toyota launch the new Prado in the Indian market?
We expect that the new generation of Land Cruiser Prado will arrive in the Indian market. Meanwhile, the Toyota products including SUVs are having a huge demand in India.
Currently, the new Land Cruiser is having the waiting period of over 2 years. With this we expect that the carmaker will launch the new Prado alongside the Lexus GX in India.
