New Harley-Davidson Softail Low Rider And Deluxe Launched In India

Harley-Davidson India has extended its product portfolio with the unveiling of two new Softail motorcycles, Low Rider and Deluxe. The new models are addition to the four MY18 Softail models launched in October 2017.

The new motorcycles feature a stiffer and lighter frame, built to harness the new dual-counterbalanced Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine. The new 2018 Softail models are claimed to be faster, lighter and better handling than any of their Big Twin cruiser predecessors. The models are claimed to be up to 17kg lighter than before.

The new chassis is also claimed to increased lean angles for many models, sharper turn-in response, quicker acceleration, nimble flickability, lighter weight and easier side-stand lift off than previous models. There are two unique swingarms, one for narrow and one for wide rear tires. The swingarm transfers rear wheel movement to the under-seat monoshock while maintaining the classic lines of a hardtail frame.

Brand new dual-bending valve front suspension, with 130mm of travel, is claimed to deliver damping performance that’s similar to a cartridge fork but with improved, more responsive damping characteristics. The new monoshock rear suspension preserves the classic hardtail look while revamped geometry is claimed to improve the ride quality, traction and control.

New seat designs and materials provide an improved fit for a wider range of riders and greater comfort for cruising.

Mechanically, all 2018 Softail models get the new Milwaukee-Eight 107, 45-degree cylinder-angle, V-Twin engine. Milwaukee-Eight engines for Softail models also feature a refined, dual internally counter-balanced system that reduces engine vibration while maintaining the familiar Harley-Davidson feel.
