New Gen Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Unveiled!

Toyota has unveiled the new generation Land Cruiser Prado for 2024. The new Prado gets retro styling with a boxy design and off-road capabilities. Toyota will sell it as the Land Cruiser in North American markets. Meanwhile, the carmaker will launch it in various global markets by the next year.

All-new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado: Platform and Design

The new Land Cruiser Prado uses the new TGNA-F truck platform. This platform is already used in other models like Tundra, Sequoia, and Tacoma. The SUV gets a retro and classic design with an upright stance.

Meanwhile, the design is highlighted by the boxy-shaped body panels like the Lexus GX. The new generation Prado gets a new rectangular grille and a large Toyota logo.

The SUV also gets new rectangular LED headlights that look like the J60 model of the old Land Cruiser. However, the new Prado will be available in multiple variants. The SUV gets 18-inch all-weather wheels as standard. But, the carmaker has offered the option of upgrading to 20-inch wheels.

The rear profile of the SUV gets an upright tailgate and the new clear lens taillights. With these design elements, the new Land Cruiser Prado features a funky and retro design which is similar to the 1960 version of the Land Cruiser.

Also, Toyota will launch the Land Cruiser Prado first edition which will be limited to 5,000 units. The First Edition will get more design highlights such as larger wheels and off-road-ready features.

All-new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado: Interior and Features

Like the exterior, the dashboard layout of the new Prado is simple and clean in its design. However, this design does appeal to traditionalists who demand a clean-looking interior.

The dashboard features a dual-screen display unit. Out of which, the one is for the fully digital instrument cluster and the other one is for a 12.3-inch infotainment system. The digital cluster gets analog dials which highlight the classic design of the SUV.

Meanwhile, the infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto-like connectivity features. Below are the other features of the new Land Cruiser Prado:

  • Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 Package
  • Trailer Hitch with 2700kg towing capacity
  • Digital Rear-View Mirror
  • 14-speaker JBL Audio System
  • Full Leather Upholstery for First Edition only
  • Standard Synthetic SofTex Upholstery
  • Moonroof
  • Ventilated Seats
  • Advanced Heads-Up Display (HUD)

All-new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado: Engine and Suspension

The new Land Cruiser Prado uses the 2.4L 4-cylinder turbocharged hybrid petrol engine. This engine is also used in other Toyota models like the TRD Pro variant of Tacoma. The carmaker has named this engine as iForce Max.

Along with the powertrain, the carmaker is offering a 1.87kWh battery pack and an integrated electric motor. The new Prado produces a combined output of 326ps of power and 630nm of torque.

The power is channeled to all the wheels via an 8-Speed Automatic Transmission. Meanwhile, the new Prado gets the full-time 4WD system as standard for all variants.

Since it is based on the TNGA-F platform, the new Prado gets the new double wishbone setup. The new dual wishbone suspension includes the new twin tube shock absorber system. However, the rear suspension setup includes the multi-link unit.

The SUV also gets off-roading modes like a Multi-Terrain Select system, Downhill Assist Control, electronic locking rear diff, a Crawl Control function, a Multi-Terrain Monitor, and a front stabilizer bar disconnect system. With its powertrain and suspension, the new Land Cruiser Prado will unleash the off-road potential and impress the enthusiasts.
