Riding high on the success of the Zest, Tata Motors has launched the Bolt hatchback today, their first launch for 2015. Tata is banking heavily on the compact sedan and this new hatchback to achieve numbers that set the sales chart on fire and help boost sales of their passenger vehicles. The Tata Bolt is based on a revised platform of the Vista and available in four variants, either in a Diesel or petrol powered option. Essentially a Zest without the boot, quality wise, this new Tata has improved by leaps and bounds in comparison to it’s predecessor. While the external shape reminds of the Vista, on the inside, the interior is all black. Equipment and cabin bits are shared with those on the Zest. Prices for the Tata Bolt are as follows:

Powertrain:
The petrol variant is powered by a segment first, 1.2-liter turbocharged engine that develops 90 PS at 5,000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque spread between 1,500 to 4,000 rpm. The diesel motor is a 1.3-liter engine that develops 75 PS at 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm of torque between 1,750-3,000 rpm. Mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, an AMT variant might make its appearance in the near future.
