New Bajaj V125 under development, expected to arrive in 2017

Bajaj will reportedly extend its V brand with the addition of a new motorcycle that will be placed below the existing V15. Report also suggests that the new motorcycle, expected to be tagged as the V125, will draw power from a Euro IV compliant version of Bajaj’s existing 125cc motor that propels the Discover 125. The engine though, may receive a different state of tune. The 124.6cc single cylinder, 4-valve, DTS-i engine with ExhausTEC that powers the Discover 125, delivers 11 PS of power at 8,000 RPM and 10.8 Nm of torque at 5,500 RPM.

Visually, the motorcycle is not likely to look any different than the V15. So expect to see same trapezoidal headlamp and curvy design along with a removable rear cowl. Being a V series motorcycle, the V125 will also receive from the scrapped metal of INS Vikrant. The V15, dimensionally, measures 2,044 mm in length, 780 mm in width and 1,070 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 1,315 mm. Ground clearance is rated at 165 mm, while kerb weight stands at 135.5 kg. These dimensions are likely to be carried to the V125 as well.

The motorcycle will be placed below the V15 and thus the V125 will carry a cheaper price tag. So while the V15 is available at Rs. 62,132 (ex-showroom Delhi), expect the V125 to arrive with a price tag between INR 55,000-60,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).
