An all-new, fifth generation, 2017 Hyundai Verna has been launched in India at a starting price of INR 799,900 (ex-showroom Delhi). The 2017 Hyundai Verna will be available powered by 1.6 L petrol and diesel engine options paired to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission choices. Here’s a lowdown on everything that’s new about the sedan.

- Petrol: 1,591 cc Gamma Dual VTVT engine good for 123 PS @ 6,400 rpm and 151 Nm @ 4,850 rpm
- Diesel: 1,582 cc U2 CRDi which churns out 128 PS @ 4,000 rpm and 260 Nm between 1,500 – 3,000 rpm
- Petrol Fuel Economy: 17.70 km/l (MT) 15.92 km/l (AT)
- Diesel Fuel Economy: 24.75 km/l (MT) 21.02 km/l (AT)
- Both engines offer the choice of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic
- The petrol and diesel variants of the new Hyundai Verna are available in 6 trims each. However, the diesel automatic isn’t available with the top of the line SX(O) trim
- The new 2017 Hyundai Verna will no longer be offered with a 1.4-litre engine
