We reported in detail when Tata Group owned Land Rover showcased the new, updated, 2014 Range Rover Evoque 9 speed at the recently conducted Auto Expo 2014. The new car has now been launched in Indian car market and goes on sale for a starting price of INR 55.28 lakhs (ex Delhi). The top of the line petrol has a price of INR 95.52 lakhs (ex Delhi).
The updated Evoque’s ZF ’9HP’ transmission is said to be most technically advanced gearbox in the world. The new gear box bestows the Evoque with improved shift quality and more refinement, along with better performance.
The ’9HP’ has been designed with keeping off-roading applications in mind and the lowest ratio on the 9HP is considerably lower than the lowest ratio on the six-speed transmission that is currently employed in the Evoque. The new 9 speed ‘box has been made to suit applications such as off-road, towing, high altitude and steep gradients. Even on having three more gear ratios, the gearbox is still 7.5 kgs lighter than the six-speed transmission it replaces!
