New 2014 BMW Concept X5 eDrive revealed prior to Frankfurt debut

Seen here are images and details of the new 2014 BMW Concept X5 eDrive that will make its public debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show next month. The Concept X5 eDrive looks production ready and could be launched sometime next year.

Powering the BMW Concept X5 eDrive is a four-pot petrol engine which comes equipped with BMW TwinPower turbocharger. Coupled with this engine is a 95bhp electric motor which derives its juice from a lithium-ion battery pack. This battery pack is housed in a “crash-safe” position below the boot.

In Electric only mode, the car has a top whack of 120kmph. The X5 eDrive boasts of a 0-100 kmph time of 7 seconds.The car has a range of 30km on electric-only mode. The fuel economy in the hybrid mode is rated at 3.8L/100km. The CO2 emissions are less than 90g/km.

The X5 eDrive can be differentiated from the regular X5 by the BMW iBlue-colored kidney grille, extra air intake, new roof rails and aerodynamically optimized 21-inch alloy wheels.
