That the all new 2013 Skoda Octavia is headed our way is a well known fact. While we haven’t yet received any official date on the Octavia’s India launch date, test mules of the new Octavia have been seen testing on Indian roads on numerous occasions. The fact these test mules have been seen roaming around with not even slightest of camouflage further consolidates our belief that the car is fast nearing its launch date.

We reported in detail when 2013 Skoda Octavia test mules we spotted testing in Bangalore and Mumbai and now, a Team-BHP forum member karan561 has posted pics of the next generation Octy undergoing road tests on the Mumbai-Pune expressway.

He goes on to say that the car appeared “stunning” and “futuristic” on roads. Karan561 also had a little chat with the car’s driver who said that the car feels much better than the last generation Octavia aka Laura.

The Octavia is looking all set to become the first VW Group car in India to be underpinned by the much publicized MQB platform and the new car looks poised to up the ante in its segment. The new Octavia is larger and better equipped than Laura and offers a much better value for money proposition in most markets it is sold in. While the 2013 Octy will be pricier in India than the Laura, the fact that it will be a more sorted out car that will offer more in almost all aspects will, most probably, justify the higher price tag.

It is being said that Skoda might increase ground clearance for the India spec vehicle. Also, the car might come to us with a retuned suspension and an ECU remap for making the car more suitable for Indian road conditions. The new Octavia is likely to continue being powered by the current set of engines.
