A white car reportedly went up in flames at Haji Ali in Mumbai. The untoward incident caused inconvenience to commuters who were travelling through the area as they were stuck in long traffic jams. The incident occurred around 6:30 pm on the south bound lane when the car was parked besides a road near Lala Lajpatrai College.

Fire brigade officials rushed to the spot and were able to extinguish the fire quickly. The officials were not sure about the cause of the fire although they feel a short circuit might have led to the mishap. Another report suggested that a possible leakage in the CNG tank of the sedan could have led to the incident.

The fire resulted in long traffic jams on both, the north and south bound traffic and took at least an hour to return to normal after the fire was doused. In the meantime, traffic was diverted from Worli naka to Dr E Moses Road towards Haji Ali junction.
