More than 400 driving schools to be introduced by Maruti!

Maruti Suzuki India has always been on its toe when it comes to road safety and education. The firm revealed its plans to double its driving schools to over 400 in the next 2-3 years. Presently, the company owns a network of 6 Institutes of Driving and Traffic Research (IDTR) and 192 Maruti driving schools which train people on road safety. The firm has received support from various state governments who have supported the setting up of IDTRs and institutionalization of driving training in the country.

MSI has done a great job already of training more than 10 lakh people in the last decade. Out of these 5 lakh people have been trained under its flagship program – National Road Safety Mission (NRSM), which debuted in December 2008.

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) Managing Executive Office (Marketing and Sales) Mayank Pareek said, “So far we have trained over 10 lakh people… We now target to double the network of Maruti driving schools to 400 in the next 2-3 years.” “In terms of fatalities, around 160,000 lives are lost annually in road accidents. As the automobile sector continues to grow, there is a need to bring in high quality training institutes, which help institutionalize high ‘quality training’ on road safety,” he added.
