Mitsubishi XF C Concept: Japanese Carmaker’s Answer To The Creta?

Mitsubishi Motors premiered the Mitsubishi XFC Concept, a compact SUV concept car, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The car is to be on display at Vietnam Motor Show 2022 which is to be held from October 26 to 30. The Mitsubishi XFC Concept is a next-generation compact SUV that offers the powerful and imposing design of an SUV. The Mitsubishi XFC Concept is a compact SUV that is not part of the current ASEAN line-up but complements the range of products tailored to the ASEAN market — the Triton pickup truck and its derivative, the Pajero Sport midsize SUV; the Outlander and Outlander PHEV midsize SUVs; the Xpander and Xpander Cross crossover MPVs; and the Mirage compact hatchback and its variant, the Attrage sedan.

The front of the car is dominated by a large grille, flanked by boomerang-shaped LED headlamps with louver-like LED daytime running lights which are placed underneath. The front bumper is integrated with the front skid plate that has rally-style hexagonal shapes with illuminated surrounds.  The rear of the car features taillamps that look just like the headlamps in the front and a chunky rear bumper that has the same illuminated shapes as the front.

Inside the XFC, Mitsubishi has focussed on simplicity, practicality, and roominess. Its cabin is quite minimalistic and with plenty of storage space. The dashboard features a widescreen display for the digital instrument cluster and a central infotainment touchscreen.  Most of the controls on the steering wheel and central console are touch and the floating central console tunnel features a drive selector that resembles a large, smooth, polished black stone.

The concept replaces rear-view mirrors with cameras and the feed is sent to displays integrated into the ends of the dashboard. The complete powertrain of the vehicle is not revealed yet except that it is an all-electric vehicle and comes in 4 driving modes-Normal, wet, gravel, and mud. The concept compact SUV will make its physical debut at the Vietnam Motor Show in the last week of October and will compete against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, and the Kia Seltos in the ASEAN market.
