It is OFFICIAL! Mercedes-Benz India, the Indian subsidiary of the German luxury car maker, will launch the the AMG variant of SLK Class, its famous roadster, in India on December 2. With this, the SLK55 AMG will become the final model in Mercedes India’s product offensive for 2013.
Currently, Mercedes India has five AMG cars in its product portfolio — the E63 AMG, the C63 AMG, the G63 AMG and the SLS AMG in both coupe and convertible variants. For those who aren’t exactly clued in, the AMG is the high performance division of Mercedes and follows the one-man, one-engine concept to handbuild motors for performance variants of regular Mercedes models.
The launch of the Mercedes SLK will be followed by that of the new generation S CLass in January. The new S Class will come to us via CKD route and is looking all poised to redefine the ultra luxury car segment of Indian car market. The new S Class will be launched in both petrol and diesel variants.
Mercedes India aims to sell about 100 AMG cars every year.
