Mercedes launches the most powerful AMG in India

One of the prominent German carmakers, Mercedes-Benz has launched the flagship AMG GT 63 S E hybrid in India. This is the flagship AMG model of the German carmaker in India with a stunning performance. This 4-door coupe debuted in 2021 and it’s not just a PHEV but also the most powerful AMG production model. Mercedes-Benz has also announced that the customers will be handed over the keys of this car model from 7-time F1 champion, Lewis Hamilton.

About the Exterior and Interior Design of AMG GT 63 SE

In comparison to the standard model, the new AMG GT63 SE gets subtle tweaks in the exterior design. These subtle tweaks comprise a tweaked front bumper, new exhaust mufflers, and outlets, and striking multi-spoke design alloy wheels. Additionally, the performance sedan also features a charging port flap on the rear bumper. Apart from this, the regular GT63 and the hybrid GT63 SE look similar.

Like the Exterior, the interior of the GT63 SE PHEV has some minor tweaks. The GT 63 SE also features hybrid-specific details like their other PHEV models. The hybrid details include the EV range indicator, real-time power consumption, and EV motor power gauge. This hybrid information is displayed on the MBUX infotainment system. The sound quality can be enhanced by toggling via buttons at the central console or at the steering wheel.

About the AMG PHEV Powertrain

Based on the standard 4-door GT63 S, the GT63 SE Hybrid features a 4.0L V8 Twin-turbo powertrain. But this engine is coupled to a 204ps axle-mounted electric motor at the rear. Resulting in a combined output of 843hp of power and 1400nm of torque. This output allows the car to reach a top speed of 316km/h and 0-100 sprint in 2.9 seconds.

This powertrain is mated to the 6.1kWh, 400V battery pack that weighs around 89kgs. This battery pack offers 12 km of range in EV mode with a top speed of 130km/h. Mercedes-Benz has equipped the GT63 SE with 7 different drive modes and 4 levels of regenerative braking. The latter also supports one-pedal driving in various circumstances.

Pricing and Rivals

Mercedes-Benz has priced the AMG GT 63 SE 4-door at Rs. 3.3 crores Ex-showroom. This sedan has its direct competition from only one sedan, the Porsche Panamera Turbo SE hybrid which is priced at 2.76 crores. The launch of the Mercedes AMG GT63 SE is a part of the brand’s 2023 growth strategy. This strategy also involves the launch of 10 more vehicles in the premium segment of the market.
