Mahindra Thar 5-door spied ahead of launch

One of the most anticipated SUVs, Thar has got its new generation a couple of years ago. And this has gained an immensely positive response from the market. Recently, Mahindra has launched its RWD iteration with more powertrain options to cater to a wider audience. To scale up its rugged stance, Mahindra is on the verge to launch its 5-door version soon. Now, the 5-door version of Thar has been spied with heavy camouflage.

About the Spy shot of the 5-door Thar

Recently, spy snippets of the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door were clicked near Manali, Himachal Pradesh. In these images, it is clearly evident that Mahindra will soon launch the 5-door version of Thar in the market. The front profile is largely similar to its 2-door sibling with the expectation of minor cosmetic tweaks. However, the side profile depicts that the 5-door version of Thar will be longer and have more wheelbase. The longer version of Thar is expected to get some minor cosmetic tweaks on its exteriors along with additional doors and versatility. As a result, the new 5-door version of Thar will be approx. 22% larger in dimension than its current 2-door iteration.

What does the Spy shot reveal?

The new spy shots of 5-door Thar depict the front, side, and rear profile covered with heavy camouflage. The styling of this SUV will be similar to its 3-door version for the most part. However, the new 5-door Thar is expected to wear new alloy wheels. And the door handles of the 2nd row of this SUV will be placed vertically on the pillar. The middle-row door handles will be operated similarly to the Maruti Swift and late Chevrolet Beat. In terms of interior, the layout of the dashboard, steering wheel, AC vents, gear knob, etc. will be the same as the 2-door version.

Powertrain Options, Launch Timeline, and Pricing

The new Mahindra Thar 5-door is expected to be available with a multitude of powertrain options. The 2.0L 4-cylinder M-Stallion T-GDi petrol engine makes 152ps of power and 300-320Nm of torque. While the 2.2L 4-cylinder M-hawk diesel engine churns out 130ps and 300nm of output. Both these engines will be mated to either a 6-Speed Manual or Automatic transmission. However, the 5-door version of Thar will also be available with either a 4×2 or 4×4 drivetrain option.

The launch of the upcoming 5-door version of Thar is expected by June 2023. This SUV is expected to be priced in the range starting from Rs. 14-16 Lakhs Ex-showroom.
