Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the latest iteration of its iconic G-Class, marking the second refresh for this generation.
The new G-Class facelift introduces a range of updates, including minor styling tweaks, enhanced powertrains, and technological advancements.
1. Powertrain Evolution
One of the key highlights of the G-Class facelift is the introduction of mild-hybrid engine options across the lineup. The entry-level model now features a 3.0-litre straight-six diesel engine coupled with a 48V integrated starter generator (ISG), delivering an impressive power output of 357hp and 750Nm of torque. Additionally, the G500 variant is equipped with a refined 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder petrol unit, boasting a power output of 436hp.
2. Subtle Exterior Enhancements
While retaining its distinctive silhouette, the G-Class receives subtle exterior updates to enhance both aesthetics and aerodynamic performance. Changes include a redesigned front bumper and radiator grille, as well as rounded-off A-pillars and a new windscreen lip.
These refinements contribute to improved aerodynamic efficiency, resulting in a reduced drag coefficient from 0.53 to 0.48. Furthermore, the integration of a front-facing camera with a ‘transparent bonnet’ view enhances visibility and safety during off-road adventures.

Inside the cabin, the G-Class welcomes the latest iteration of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system, featuring a touchscreen interface for intuitive control. Additional upgrades include temperature-controlled cup holders, a wireless mobile charger, and keyless entry for added convenience. The revamped off-road ‘control centre’ provides easier access to essential functions, further enhancing the overall driving experience.

Despite the updates, the G-Class remains true to its heritage of uncompromising off-road capability. With a ground clearance of 229mm, a wading depth of 700mm, and impressive approach and departure angles, it effortlessly conquers challenging terrain with confidence and poise.

For enthusiasts seeking unparalleled performance, the Mercedes-AMG G63 receives notable updates as well. The addition of an advanced new active suspension system enhances both on-road agility and off-road prowess, while the integration of 48V mild-hybrid technology ensures optimal power delivery. Furthermore, the optional AMG Active Ride Control further refines the driving dynamics, providing a truly exhilarating driving experience.
