The official images of the Mercedes CLA45 AMG have leaked ahead of the car’s official debut at the New York Auto Show. Sharing the same feast on the table (well, more or less) as the recently unveiled A45 AMG, the CLA45 too features the impressive new 2.0 liter 4 cylinder turbo petrol engine with 360bhp and 450Nm of torque. Add a stylish coupe like shape for a compact sedan and the CLA45 should make a strong case for itself in circles which care for all things chic. Expect the prices to start from rs 30 lakh when the car arrives there later this year.
Helped by a capable seven speed dual clutch transmission, all that power and torque is good to propel this segment creating (as regards styling) coupe-sedan from standstill to 100km/h in a flashing fast 4.5 seconds, and take it all the way up to a top speed of governed 250km/h. Needless to say, much of the running gear including suspension and parts of the chassis will be optimized by AMG for a much better drive feel as compared with the stock CLA.
The images you see here have been leaked (why does that happen with every car these days?) a week ahead of the official debut. Why can’t the carmakers reveal the images officially before the show rather than having to go through the trouble of creating deliberate fissures in their information release systems.
In its AMG avatar, the CLA gets brand new front and rear bumpers, a carbon fibre trim for the dashboard, sportier seats, sexy looking side skirts and a dash of red in seatbelts.
