The 2017 model matches the VR10 levels of ballistic protection, as compared to its predecessor’s VR9 levels. This means that the bodywork and windows of the Maybach S600 Guard can now withstand hardened steel core bullets. Moreover, the new Maybach S600 Guard has an Explosive Resistant Vehicle (ERV) 2010 rating which improves the protection against side blasts. The vehicle can now uphold itself to a blast of 15 kg of TNT at a distance of 2 metres as compared to 4 metres in the outgoing model.

Other features over the standard version of the Maybach S600 include relocated seats in the rear cabin eabling the passengers to sit futher behind in the vehicle apart from enhancing the protection of the outer skin and the structure of the vehicle with special integrated steel. Also featured is an under body armour that protects the vehicle and its occupants against any explosives beneath it.

The fuel tank uses the same material used in a Boeing Apache tank attack helicopter which closes any holes in case it faces a hit. Optional features to this high security luxury vehicle include a weapon safe that would be situated in the boot apart from a fresh air system that would supply the cabin in the event of a gas attack.

Powering the Maybach S600 Guard is the same engine featured on the standard Maybach S600 which is a 6.o litre twin turbo V12 engine that produces 523 hp of power and 830 Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be performed by a 7 speed dual clutch transmission (DCT).
