Mercedes S Coupe

Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupé & Mercedes-AMG S63 Coupé India launch on July 30

Mercedes S500 Coupe

Come July 30, and two big, luxurious German bruisers will be unleashed on Indian soil – the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe and the Mercedes-AMG S63 Coupe.

Based on the W222 S-Class and aimed squarely at the Bentley Continental GT, the S-Class Coupe (C217) replaces the erstwhile CL-Class. Arguably one of the most beautiful models in Mercedes’ current line-up, apart from the AMG GT, the S-Class Coupe comes in three variants – the S500 (S550 in the US), along with the angry, S63 and S65 AMG twins from Affalterbach.

The S500 Coupe is powered by a 4.7-litre twin-turbo V8 developing 453bhp and 700Nm of torque, while the the S63 Coupe features a 5.5 litre turbocharged V8, good enough for 577bhp and an enormous 900Nm of twist, allowing for a 0-100 kph sprint in just 3.9 seconds. Like the S500, the S63 is offered with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, though with only all-wheel drive (without Magic Body Control) in the United States.

Other features in the S63 include AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sport transmission, AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive system (US only), AMG sport exhaust system with automatic exhaust flaps, AIRMATIC air suspension with ADS PLUS adaptive damping system, AMG high-performance composite braking system, new three-spoke AMG sport steering wheel, touchpad for radio, telephone and navigation system operation, AIR-BALANCE package, ATTENTION ASSIST, Nappa leather upholstery and Optional Head-Up Display.
