Maruti Suzuki launched the much awaited Vitara Brezza on March 8th this year. The compact SUV saw the sales chart flying through the roof with 2,600 units being booked in a matter 24 hours from its launch. In fact, Ford slashed the price of the Ecosport just a day after the Vitara Brezza was launched.

New reports now suggest that Maruti Suzuki has received 35,000 bookings till date. However, there is no official communication from the company confirming such massive bookings. Even having dispatched about 5,500 units earlier, the waiting period for the Vitara Brezza doesn’t seem to come down. Reports now point towards waiting periods of the sub-4 metre vehicle increasing from 4-5 months earlier to a current waiting of 6 months. Most customers are said to be opting for the top end variants which is resulting in a longer wait.

The Vitara Brezza has received such a response that the company is now forced to increase the production rate in order to meet the growing demand for the compact SUV. An initial plan of 80,000 units was now increased by 20,000 taking the total production to 1 lakh units annually.
