Earlier this year, back at the Auto Expo 2014, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, the country’s largest selling car maker, put on display the Maruti Suzuki SX4 S-Cross. Now, we’ve got to know from some of our sources associated with MSIL that the company is almost done with its market studies and the Maruti Suzuki SX4 S-Cross India launch could happen sometime during the middle of next year! The Maruti Suzuki SX4 S-Cross India launch would mean that while the upcoming Ciaz-based YL1 sedan will take the mantle from SX4 sedan here in our country, the SX4 would continue soldiering on in this five door guise.

We aren’t really surprised by MSIL’s decision to bring the SX4 S-Cross to India. SUV makers present in our country are already laughing their way to the banks with the sales success SUVs enjoy in our country and even international car makers, who have psuedo-crossovers/SUVs in their product portfolio, are stepping into our car market to capitalize on this increased demand for ruggedly stylized cars. Upon launch, the SX4 S-Cross will join the likes of the Volkswagen Cross Polo, Fiat Avventura and Toyota Etios Cross.
The new Maruti Suzuki SX4 S-Cross, on being compared to the SX4 sedan, rides on new design alloy wheels, has a faux skid plate, new fog lamp inserts and a revised grille. The car also has a a hint of aluminum on the side skirts, chrome door handles, ORVMs on the side rear view mirrors, and a dash of chrome on the rub-strip.
Unveiling the SX4 S-Cross, Mr. Toshihiro Suzuki, Executive Vice President, Suzuki Motor Corporation said, “The two cars that we unveil today follow the footsteps of the iconic Suzuki Swift. These models are designed to meet the varied requirements of discerning customers around the world.While the SX4 S-CROSS is a real crossover with authentic performance, the Concept CIAZ is designed to meet the growing demand in C-Segment market in India, China and elsewhere.”
