Maruti Suzuki Jimny Gets a Launch Date

One of the most anticipated SUVs, the Maruti Jimny has got its launch date. Now, Maruti Suzuki is on the verge of launching the most awaited Jimny in India on 7th June 2023. The SUV has gained 30,000 bookings and it’ll take on the likes of Force Gurkha and Mahindra Thar.

Waiting Period, Variants and Features of Maruti Jimny

Maruti Suzuki will offer the Jimny in 2 variants: Zeta and Alpha. As per the sources, the demand for the range-topping Alpha variant is higher and it’ll be prioritized for production. The Jimny will be available in colour options like Bluish Black, Kinetic Yellow and Pearl Arctic White.

The Alpha variant of Jimny will be brimmed with a plethora of advanced features. Some of them are Auto LED headlamps, a 9-inch touchscreen, SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, Cruise control and Arkamys sound system. On the safety front, the SUV will get 6 airbags, ESP with hill assist, rear-view camera and ABS with EBD.

However, the waiting period for the most popular manual variants will be 6 months. While the Automatic variants of Jimny will have a waiting period of up to 8 months.

About the Powertrain of Maruti Jimny

The Maruti Suzuki will launch the Jimny SUV with 1 engine and 2 gearbox options. At the heart of the matter of this SUV is a 1.5L 4-cylinder K15B petrol engine. However, this engine makes 103hp of power and 138nm of torque output. This SUV has the claimed fuel efficiency of 16.94kmpl for the manual and 16.39kmpl for the automatic variant.

The Jimny will get the options of a 5-Speed Manual and 4-Speed Automatic Transmission. Moreover, the Jimny will receive a standard Suzuki AllGrip Pro 4WD system. This 4×4 system comprises the manual transfer case and a low-range gearbox with ‘2WD-high’, ‘4WD-high’ and ‘4WD-low’ modes.

Pricing and the competition

The expected price range of the Jimny at around Rs. 10 lakh-12 lakh ex-with no direct competition. However, Maruti Jimny will indirectly face competition from Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha.
