When launched, the Ignis offered both petrol and diesel engine options. However, the oil burning engine is not on sale anymore. Just like in the Ignis, Maruti Suzuki will not be offering smaller diesel engines from April 2020. The only engine the Ignis has now is the 1.2-litre, K-series engine. Using 4-cylinders and variable valve timing, this motor manages to push out 82 horses at 6,000 rpm and a maximum twist of 113 Nm is generated at 4,200 rpm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a 5-speed stick shift but customers can also opt for a 5-speed AMT gearbox for a more relaxed driving experience. Both these gearboxes deliver a claimed fuel efficiency of 20.89 km per litre.
