Maruti Suzuki India marked its entry into the performance segment with the Baleno RS. The Baleno RS brings to India Suzuki’s recent innovation – the 1.0 litre Boosterjet direct injection turbocharged engine. This engine is said to deliver 20% more power and 30% more torque than a 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.
The Baleno RS, according to the company, offers a smooth and peppy ride across all driving conditions, thanks to peak torque available for a wide range of RPM (150 Nm @1700-4500 RPM). This means, the driver can drive without frequent change of gears. Boosterjet is a combination of two technologies: direct injection system and a turbocharger. The Baleno RS responds to the driver’s command for acceleration and performance with the all-aluminum, three-cylinder, 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine.
The Baleno RS sports an exterior styling and sporty body kit. The fire red colour of Baleno RS, according to Maruti Suzuki, portrays its performance character. Also on offer is a new front grille, front bumper, under-body spoilers, black alloy wheels and the RS emblem at the rear.
Available only in the Alpha trim, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS comes equipped with safety features such as pedestrian safety, side and frontal offset impact ISOFIX child-seat restrain anchorages, dual airbags, seatbelts with pre-tensioners and force limiters, disc brakes on all four corners, and ABS with EBD. Also on offer are driver seat belt reminder buzzer with lamp and rear parking sensors with camera.
