Right when almost entire of the nation is in tears owing to a shocking petrol price hike, various car manufacturers are busy taking steps to prevent this development from damaging their petrol car sales. Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) and the likes have launched exciting offers and discounts on their petrol cars. The only ‘conditions apply’ bit here is that this is a limited period offer.
Maruti is dishing out discount offers of up to INR 30,000 on their petrol car line up. Alto, which has long been a bread winning model for the car maker now comes with a discount of Rs. 30,000.
Mr. Mayank Pareek, Managing Executive Officer (Marketing and Sales), MSIL, told PTI: “Sales of entry level cars are getting affected in recent months due to very high fuel prices. Sales of Alto is falling and to boost sales of the car, we will offer discounts of Rs 30,000 till month-end”.
India’s second largest car maker Hyundai is offering discounts on the petrol variants of Accent and Verna. Also, Eon, Santro and i10 which have no diesel variants are coming with similar offers. Hyundai has named this offer as Petrol Price Lock Assurance. This offer is valid till 31st of this month.
Mr. Arvind Saxena, Director (Marketing and Sales), HMIL, said: “The Petrol Lock Scheme will insulate the customer from the impact of the price hike. The price hike is severe and we need to soften the blow for our customers”.
Popular carmaker Tata Motors too is giving discount offers ranging between Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 50,000 on the petrol variants of Indica hatchback and Indigo sedan. A Tata Motors spokesperson said: “We are offering discounts on the petrol variants of Indica and Indigo family. The rebate will vary between Rs 10,000 and Rs 50,000 depending on the model”.
