Mahindra’s motorcycle to come to reality by March 2011

Since quite a long time, there have been rumors spreading all over the internet regarding the launch of a 125cc motorcycle from the stable of Mahindra. As per the rumors, the bike will bear a SYM 125cc power plant and the bike would be called Cevalo. Sym is a Taiwanese based bike manufacturer which had tie-ups with Kinetic which is now taken over by Mahindra.

Recently, Mahindra’s two-wheeler division revealed some facts about the upcoming motorcycle from its stable. To start with, now we have confirmation regarding a motorcycle coming up from the Mahindra stable. “We are currently working on launching a motorcycle from the Mahindra stable that can be expected to hit the market somewhere in March 2011. Our priority is to focus on that for now,” revealed D Shinde, vice president, marketing, Mahindra Two-Wheelers.

It is confirmed that the firm will be taking assistance of its Taiwanese partner Sanyang Industry Company Ltd. But we do not expect the Cevalo to be a part of the Indian fleet of bikes though. What we expect is two commuters with an engine ranging between 100-125cc. The bikes will reportedly be built at Mahindra’s Pithampur facility near Indore which boasts of an annual production capacity of around 5,00,000 units. Stay tuned on Motoroids to know more.
