The Mahindra XUV5OO has been among the most successful of all cars from the leading Indian UV maker. Such has been the demand for the XUV5OO that the automaker managed to sell more than 50,000 units in just 16 months since launch.
However, thanks to the economic slowdown and the sluggish phase of sales performance that our auto industry is going through, even the most successful of the manufacturers are witness a considerable drop in the revenues.
It has now emerged that Mahindra might soon launch a new entry level W4 variant of the XUV5OO that could bring in more prospective buyers to the auto maker. It may be noted that sales of the XUV500 dropped from 3,721 units to 2,253 units during the January – February period.
The W6, which is the current entry level model of the XUV5OO, has an approx ex showroom price of INR 12 lakhs in Mumbai. The W4 variant, if and when it is launched, would be considerable cheaper and would come sans the rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, automatic temperature control AC and 6-inch multimedia system.
