Intend to bring home a sparkling new Mahindra XUV500? You might want to hold on to your money for a bit longer. If a new report by Autocar India is to be believed, the Mahindra XUV500 may soon gets a performance boost with power output figures likely to reach 170 PS from the current model’s 140 PS. The report suggests that Mahindra is working on an update to the SUV which will include minor visual and mechanical upgrades.
There is no official confirmation about the performance upgrade from Mahindra & Mahindra but the report suggests that the upcoming Scorpio is set to get a power bump, the XUV500’s engine may also get a boost. The current generation’s 2.2 litre Powerful mHawk diesel engine is tuned to deliver 140 PS of power @ 3750 rpm and 330 Nm of torque between 1600-2800 rpm.
