It seems like Mahindra and Mahindra has ticked the correct boxes for the TUV 300 as the new sub compact SUV from the Indian car-maker’s stable has overtaken the Ford EcoSport for second month in a row since its launch. The overall year-on-year sales for Mahindra & Mahindra during October 2015 grew by 20 percent when compared to October 2014.

The new battle tank inspired compact SUV found 4,313 buyers while the Ford managed to sell 3,142 units of the EcoSport in the month of September 2015, the month in which the TUV300 was launched. For October 2015, Mahindra managed to sell 4,551 units of the TUV300 where as the EcoSport managed to roll out 3,417 units.

Pricing can be one of the major factors for positive sales for the Mahindra’s compact SUV. The Mahindra TUV300 is priced at Rs 6.90-9.12 where as the Ford EcoSport comes at a slightly premium Rs 7.88-10.20 (both prices ex-showroom).

The festive season has brought positive sales for many car manufacturers and with Diwali lined-up in the coming days, these numbers are likely to grow better. Pravin Shah, President & Chief Executive (Automotive), Mahindra & Mahindra says that the advent of the festive season has provided the much needed fillip for the auto industry especially on the back of the new launches of most manufacturers which has received an encouraging response. The drop in interest rates and the fuel prices remaining benign, the company expects the industry to maintain a good growth momentum going forward.

We are quite hopeful of this positive growth momentum continuing for the rest of the year.”

Can the Mahindra TUV300 continue its growth trajectory in the coming months? With Diwali around the corner, we believe it will. Do you agree? Share your views with us through the comments section below.
