Mahindra Thar 5-Door To be Upmarket

Mahindra Thar 5-door is set to launch in H2 2024. It’s more than just a larger frame; expect numerous exciting enhancements.

Technological Marvels Inside

Mahindra aims to redefine in-car experiences with the Thar 5-door by introducing a host of technological advancements. The centerpiece is a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, boasting the latest Adrenox software and supporting Over-The-Air (OTA) updates. Complementing this is a matching 10.25-inch digital driver display, providing drivers with a futuristic and informative cockpit.

Enhanced Comfort

Addressing the demand for increased comfort, Mahindra’s 5-door variant incorporates several features not found in its 3-door counterpart. Expect to find front armrests for both driver and passenger, ensuring a more relaxed driving experience.

Rear passengers are in for a treat with dedicated AC vents and an available rear center armrest for those opting for a bench seat.

A Glimpse into Practicality

The longer wheelbase of the Thar 5-door, 300mm more than its 3-door sibling, translates to a more spacious interior, particularly in the rear.

But the practicality doesn’t end there; Mahindra plans to enhance utility by increasing storage spaces and cubbies. Additionally, the company commits to using superior quality materials for the cabin, dash, doors, and seat upholstery.

Performance

Under the hood, both the 3-door and 5-door Thars will share the robust 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engines, coupled with 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options.

Off-road enthusiasts can rejoice as the off-road gear remains consistent across both models, with slight suspension tweaks for the 5-door variant.

Production Insights

As production is set to commence by June, Mahindra aims to roll out approximately 4,000 units of the Thar 5-door per month. The company appears confident in the model’s success, even speculating on the name ‘Thar Armada.’
