Porsche Macan EV Turbo Launched at 1.65 Crore !!

Porsche has raised the stakes in the luxury electric SUV segment with the launch of the Porsche Macan EV Turbo priced at Rs 1.65 crore

Booking Open, Deliveries Soon

Porsche India has officially opened bookings for the Macan Turbo, signaling the arrival of its second electric car in the Indian market.

With an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.65 crore, enthusiasts can anticipate deliveries to commence in the second half of 2024.

The Macan Turbo is positioned to be a game-changer in the luxury electric SUV landscape, offering a choice between the 408hp Macan 4 and the 639hp Macan Turbo variants.

Transition to Electric

While the electric Macan will coexist with its petrol-powered counterpart until the end of 2025, Porsche has a strategic plan to transition its lineup exclusively to electric vehicles.

Design and Architecture

Shared Platform with Audi

Developed alongside the Audi Q6 E-tron, the Macan EV shares the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture. The electric Macan boasts dimensions that set it apart, being 103mm longer, 15mm wider, and 2mm lower than the existing petrol model. This shared platform ensures the Macan benefits from advancements in chassis, batteries, and power electronics.

Taycan-Inspired Styling

The exterior design takes inspiration from the iconic Taycan, featuring distinctive rectangular headlights and a wraparound LED rear light bar.

The sleek roofline and a more streamlined rear end, complete with a retractable spoiler, contribute to a modern and aerodynamic aesthetic.

Interior and Features

Step inside the Macan EV, and you’ll find an interior that mirrors the elegance of the current Cayenne model. Boasting up to three digital displays, including a standard 12.6-inch curved instrument cluster and a 10.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, the Macan Turbo ensures a tech-forward and luxurious driving experience.

Innovative Layout

The repositioned gear selector, moved from the center console to a higher position on the dashboard, creates additional space for two cupholders and a smartphone charging pad within the center console.

The longer wheelbase translates to enhanced legroom in both rows, coupled with an impressive boot space of 540 litres and an additional 84-litre ‘frunk.’

Power and Performance

Dual Motors, Synchronized Power

Equipped with dual permanent synchronous motors and a single-speed gearbox on each axle, the Macan 4 delivers a combined 408hp and 650Nm. This translates to a 0-100kph time of 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 220kph.

On the other hand, the Macan Turbo offers an exhilarating 639hp and up to 1,130Nm for short bursts of overboost, enabling a swift 0-100kph in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 260kph.

Cutting-Edge Battery Technology

Fast Charging, Impressive Range

The Macan’s 95kWh battery supports fast charging at up to 270kW on an 800V DC system, ensuring a 10-80 percent top-up within a mere 21 minutes. Additionally, regenerative braking allows the recuperation of up to 240kW of electric energy.

The official WLTP ranges are equally impressive, with the Macan 4 reaching 613km and the Macan Turbo achieving 591km.

Suspension and Handling

The Macan 4 incorporates steel suspension with new twin-valve dampers, ensuring a balanced and comfortable ride. In contrast, the Macan Turbo features a more advanced air suspension setup with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and variable electronic damping control.

Rear Steering Innovation

Both the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo offer optional rear steering, a first for the Macan, allowing a maximum steering angle of up to 5-degrees. This innovation results in a remarkably tight turning circle of 11.1m.

What We Think

The Porsche Macan EV Turbo stands as a testament to Porsche’s commitment to pushing boundaries in the electric vehicle domain.

With a perfect blend of performance, luxury, and cutting-edge technology, the Macan Turbo sets a new standard for electric SUVs.
