Mahindra has launched the new NuvoSport in India today, with prices starting from INR 7.35 lakhs (ex-showroom Thane). Targeted at the young audience who lead an “active, outdoorsy lifestyle”, the Nuvosport will target those looking for a budget SUV without compromising (much) on the image. The NuvoSport, which replaces the ageing Quanto, is based on the same new generation platform as the Scorpio. As compared to the Quanto, the sub-4 meter long, 7 seater NuvoSport features significant styling updates, an AMT and other new features.
Design highlights include a new front grille, new headlamps with independent daytime running lamps, a bonnet scoop, a larger, bolder front bumper, fresher body cladding, revised tail lamp graphics and new, 16″ alloy wheels. Inside, the new NuvoSport features a black & grey interior theme, faux leather upholstery, steering mounted audio & phone controls, chrome accented instrument cluster, aluminium pedals and scuff plates.
New features include a 6.2″ touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth/Hands-free calling/FM/CD/DVD/USB/AUX, Micro Hybrid Technology, cruise control, driver information system, and Intellipark Reverse Assist. The 5+2 seating is flexible, with 60:40 foldable second row seats that recline, flip and fold down completely, along with a couple of jump seats at the back that fold completely as well, to enable additional recline for second row occupants. Boot space is rated at a class-leading 412 litres.
Other features of the NuvoSport include a flat floor in the second row, a height adjustable driver’s seat, lumbar support, electrically adjustable ORVMs, lead-me-to-vehicle and follow-me-home headlamps, driver and co-driver adjustable armrests, puddle lamps, illuminated sun visor and lots of interior storage. As for safety, the NuvoSport incorporates dual airbags and ABS with EDB (both features available as option from base variant; standard from mid variant), side intrusion beams, front fog lamps, speed sensing auto door lock, seat belts with height adjuster, and an anti-theft digital immobilizer with encrypted key recognition system.
The Mahindra NuvoSport is powered by a 1493cc, three cylinder, BSIV compliant, diesel engine from Mahindra’s mHawk family that drives the vehicle in two modes – Power and AC ECO. In the Power mode, the engine can deliver 100 BHP at 3,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 240 Nm between 1,600 and 2800 rpm. Once switched to AC ECO Mode, the engine produces 71 BHP at 3,250 rpm and 180 Nm of torque between 1,600 and 2,100 rpm. Though a 5-speed manual transmission is standard, an autoSHIFT AMT is also available with the higher variants.
The Mahindra NuvoSport is available in 8 variants – N4, N4+, N6, N6 AMT, N8, N8 AMT, and in 6 colours – Molten Red, Rust Orange, Diamond White, Regal Blue, Mist Silver and Fiery Black.
