Mahindra KUV 100 features and variants leaked, bookings rumoured to be open at Rs 10,000

Recent reports claim to have revealed the features and variants of the upcoming Mahindra KUV100. According to the reports, the upcoming compact Kool Utility Vehicle (KUV) will be available in four variants and can already be booked for a refundable amount of Rs 10,000. The KUV 100 will be launched on 15th January 2016 while dealers are said to promise a delivery date of mid January depending upon the variant booked.

The KUV 100 will come with airbags as an optional feature across all the variants and will be denoted by the “+” sign on the nameplate. Powering the KUV 100 will be a 1.2 litre naturally aspirated, 3 cylinder (mFalcon G80) VVT petrol engine that produces 83 PS at 5500 rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3500-3600rpm and a 1.2 litre 3 cylinder turbo diesel common rail engine producing 78 PS of power at 3750 rpm and 190 Nm of torque at 1750-2250 rpm.

The KUV 100 is built on a monocoque chassis that was designed at Mahindra’s research valley in Chennai and will be manufactured at the Chakan plant in Pune. Coming to the features, the KUV 100 will get a crossover-theme styling, roof rails, scuff plates, LED DRLs, C-pillar mounted door handles and would be available in seven color trims. Following is the variant wise feature list. Do take note that as the variant progresses, the features of the previous variants are carried forward as well:

KUV 100 K2 variant:

  • Body coloured bumpers
  • Rear spoiler
  • Power steering with tilt function
  • Manual AC with heater
  • Front arm rest
  • Gearshift indicator
  • ABS with EBD and engine immobilizer
  • Steel wheels

KUV 100 K4 variant:

  • Body coloured door handles and wing flaps
  • Wheel-arch cladding
  • Mud flaps and wheel caps
  • Foldable rear seat
  • Power windows
  • Central locking

KUV 100 K6 variant:

  • Chrome inserts on the grille
  • Blackened B-pillar
  • Roof rails and roof-mounted antenna
  • Door side cladding
  • Piano black trim on centre console
  • Height adjustable driver seat
  • Rear arm rest
  • Key-less Entry
  • Electrically adjustable wing mirrors
  • Cooled glove box
  • Follow-me-home headlamps with front door puddle lamps
  • Infotainment system with four speakers and two tweeters
  • Power and Eco driving modes

 KUV 100 K8 variant:

  • Front fog lamps with chrome inserts
  • Puddle lamps on all doors
  • Silver-accents on rear door handles
  • 12 spoke alloy wheels
  • Micro Hybrid feature
  • DRLs

Once launched the KUV 100 will compete against the Tata Zica, Hyundai Grand i10, Maruti Suzuki Celerio and the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R. Expect Mahindra to keep the KUV 100 in the price range of Rs. 4-6 lakhs until we get you the official prices on 15th January 2016.
