Mahindra joins hands with DRTO-Borivali to flag off the Bicycle & Bike Rally

With an initiative to create awareness about road safety, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M) partnered with DRTO-Borivali to flag off the Bicycle & Bike Rally. The rally also served as an extension of National Road Safety Week 2016 and carries forward its theme of – Road Safety: Time for Action. The Bicycle & Bike Rally started from R2 Grounds, Bandra Kurla Complex at Bandra East and concluded at SRPF Parade Grounds at Goregaon East. Interestingly with the participation of 11,707 bikers, the rally entered Guinness Book of World Records for the ‘Largest number of people attending a Road Safety Awareness Rally’.

 The event was attended by Minister of Industries, Subhash Desai, who was the Chief Guest of the rally. Also with the Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police and Chief of Manufacturing Operations, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd. were present at the rally.

Apart from these government officials, celebrities such as Shaan, Malishka, Bhoomi Trivedi, Mr. World – Annop Singh Thakur and Pulkit Samrat were als present. Ranvijay Singh and Dino Morea chose to promote road safety while riding astride a Mahindra Mojo and spoke about the perils of rash driving, disobedience of road rules and defaulting on road safety measures regardless of whether one is riding a bike or driving a car.

In the past Mahindra conducted various activities for the National Road Safety Week such as, road safety awareness for dealer staff, drivers’ education program, creating awareness amongst school children through Safety Technology in Automobiles’ presentation. Speaking on the occasion, Vijay Kalra, Chief of Manufacturing Operations, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd. said that as responsible corporate citizens, Mahindra is committed towards making India’s roads safer and hence have partnered with DRTO-Borivali for the Bicycle and Bike Rally. Most accidents are caused due to driver’s negligence and improper road etiquettes. As a leader in SUV segment, Mahindra wants to educate people about road safety. Going forward they expect safety to be imbibed as an inherent value.

  1. Hi.. I was there for the rally..
    The actual bikers present were might be 11,707, but record is of 2168. As I was there & the judges from Guinness Book of World Records mentioned this.
    The earlier record was of 2119.

    It is sad that we could have smashed the records but proper counting was not done due to lack of management as a lot of bikers left before even reaching the venue.
    I had kept calm & somehow reached the venue, but the management couldn’t handle the crowd & it was a havoc out there. Certificate distributing stalls kissed the earth by the end of event.
    I regret visiting there.
