Mahindra Two Wheelers, one of the newest players in the fast developing Indian Two Wheelers market, is just hours away from launching its second 110cc bike. Mahindra Two Wheelers will launch the new bike, the Centuro, at a launch event in the majestic town of Jaipur.

It may be noted that the Centuro was unveiled along with the Pantero 110cc bike, which has been on sale since quite a few months.

The Centuro is basically a more stylish and more sorted out alternative to the bare basic Pantero and as is obvious, will be positioned slightly above the latter. This would see the upcoming Centuro positioned against the highly popular trio of Bajaj Discover 100T, Hero Passion X Pro and the Honda Dream Yuga.

One of the talking points of the Centuro’s features list is a car like key fob that benefits from an incorporated remote control and LED torch. The Centuro will also be equipped with “first in its class” features such as Find Me Lamps, Guide Me Home Lamps, an engine immobilizer, LED pilot lamps and a white backlit semi-digital speedometer console.

The Centuo will be launched in the market in three different variants, with different levels of equipment and features. However, none of these variants would get a front disc brake, something which we aren’t really happy about.

The upcoming Mahindra Centuro is powered by the same MCI-5 four stroke air cooled single cylinder 110cc engine that powers the Pantero. This engine, which has been developed “in-house” by Mahindra, has a max power output of 8.5 hp and a peak torque figure of 8.5 Nm. The motor comes mated to a four speed manual gearbox. While the Centuro’s engine is very similar to that of the Pantero, it has been slightly tweaked for better performance and fuel economy.

Mahindra claim a 0-60 kmph dash of 8.85 seconds for the Centuro. The ARAI claimed fuel efficiency of the bike is 85.4 kpl. Also, M2W claim that this makes the Centuro the most fuel efficient bike in its category.

It remains to be seen if the Centuro would enable Mahindra 2 Wheelers, which is relatively a new player in the industry, snatch a chunk of sales from the more established rivals.
