The new Mercedes Benz A Class has been launched in India in following variants (with prices)–
A180 Sport petrol- INR 22.73 lakhs
A180 Style diesel- INR 21.93 lakhs
The A Class has already been showcased to a select audience at various Mercedes India dealerships across the country.
Unlike the B Class, which was launched in India with only a petrol engine variant, the upcoming A Class will be launched with both a diesel and a petrol engine option. The petrol variant of the A Class, which has been christened as the A180, is powered by a 1.6 litre turbo motor that boasts of a max power output of 122 PS. The diesel engine variant, which is being called as A180 CDI, is powered by the same 2.2 litre oil burner that powers the C Class.
Mercedes-Benz India is surely serious with the marketing of the soon to be launched car. The car maker recently launched a major digital media offensive aimed at creating a buzz around the launch of the New A-Class. Mercedes-Benz India also launched a unique online contest for the launch of the A-Class luxury compact car. The contest gives the winners a chance to keep a Mercedes A-Class for a complete year or a chance to party in Ibiza. The contest required uploading one’s favorite party photograph, tagging #Aclasspulsate. Mercedes-Benz is also running the A-Class campaign in association with India’s leading multimedia youth platform, MTV.
In typical German premium car fashion, the engine of the A Class will come mated to an automatic transmission.

My Brother had promised me 2 years back to buy A-class if launched in India. But now he says he won’t because the promise was applicable only if the hatch is below Rs 12L. We surely didn’t have this condition but 24L (on-road) is too much. A middle class couldn’t afford it.
