Lexus Is Here With Lexus Design Award 2023

Lexus recently announced the Lexus Design Award India 2023. The entries for the Sixth edition of Lexus Design Award India (LDAI) have begun while the entry period has been set from  28th July to 28th September 2022 With LDAI Lexus provides an opportunity and platform for designers to showcase their talent and creativity and aims to get innovative design and technology ideas for future.

The First edition of LDAI was held in 2018 and since then over 3,000 creative designers have taken part in this initiative from all over India and offered innovative and unique designs across the country that have contributed to a better tomorrow through their innovative design thinking. The designs were based on solving problems in a wide range of areas such as healthcare, energy conservation, sustainable goods, and waste management. LDAI has received many creative designs and concepts such as ‘Life Box’, Open Category Winner of LDAI 2022 – a preservation box for human hearts to allow for increased travel time and distances,  UniCast- a resizable cast for healing fractures, CleaneRat- an IoT powered sewer maintenance robot, ACCUFILL- a device that provides a real-time reading of fuel being pumped into the vehicle tank, Ice Heal- to treat sports injuries quickly and Samarth- a modular air purification system.

For the entry, Lexus focuses on the three principles of Anticipate, Innovate and Captivate and encourages the participants to follow innovative thinking and originality and create solutions for the current real-life challenges. There are 2 main categories for the LDAI with subcategories. The design experts will judge the entries and will select one winner each from the Established work category and six finalists from the Conceptual work category based on stringent & elaborate judging criteria.  Conceptual work category finalists will be guided by mentors in various design disciplines. after the mentorship, finalists will get to present their projects to the judging panel from where winners will be selected for each category. LDAI will provide a prototype development fund to 2 conceptual category winners. They will also get to visit Milan and experience the Lexus Design Event at Milan Design Week in Italy in 2023.
