The good folks at Mahindra are busy laughing their way to the bank, all thanks to the phenomenal response their latest offering, the XUV500, has been getting. However, this certainly does no means that the guys at M&M are not working on making the rest of the line up better and more popular. Now, the company has launched the new version of its popular MUV-the Xylo. This launch should be followed by the launch of the 5-door, mini-Xylohatch back in the coming months.
It may be noted that it is the first time that the Xylo has received an update since its launch. The new Xylo is already at stock yards of few dealers and this simply means that one needs not wait anymore to acquire the new Xylo. It appears that M&M is trying to give the MUV a family look by injecting some styling that has taken inspiration from the flagship XUV500. It all is good news as Xylo’s styling never had many admirers and this version here appears to be more appealing than the outgoing model. It was a good move to give some Botox treatment to the Xylo, what with its oddball looks, and the refreshed version should compete with the Chevrolet Tavera Neo3 among others. Going by the popularity of the Xylo, we are happy that we now, will get to see a better looking version on the roads. Some Visual Relief it sure is.
M&M has come up with five variants for the Xylo. While the D2 and D4 are powered by 95 bhp 2.5litres mDI engine, E4 & E8 have the potent mEagle engine with 112 bhp and the top of the line E9 gets a 129 bhp mHawk engine.
Price of the new Xylo for all its variants, ex-showroom New Delhi (in Rs lakh) is mentioned below:
- D2- Rs.7.37 lakhs
- D4- Rs.7.77 lakhs
- E4- Rs.8.11 lakhs
- E4 ABS- Rs.8.34 lakhs
- E8 ABS- Rs. 9.10
- E8 ABS + Airbags- Rs. 9.47 lakhs
- E9-Rs. 10.25 lakhs
While we welcome the additions that the new Xylo is offering, we are disappointed with the fact that no Automatic or All Wheel Drive system is being offered.
Apart from many other features that are standard across the range the fully loaded E9 variant gets:
Exterior: 235 cross section tubeless tires with alloys, roof rails, electric ORVMs, rear spoiler, front and rear fog lamps and body colored door handles & front grille.
Interior: On the inside, the car gets the usual features like mobile charger, antennae built into the rear glass, sunglasses holder, seats draped in Italian leather, theatre effect lamp and courtesy lamps.
Safety: Reverse assist, engine immobilizer, ABS + EBD and Dual airbags.
Features: The car gets upmarket features like Voice command, 2 DIN Audio setup, keyless entry, audio controls on the steering and cruise control. It may be noted that M&M is in process of getting the voice command system patented as this system in Xylo takes a departure from usual voice command systems and is a step ahead of them. Xylo’s voice command system allows the driver to control the headlights, wipers, audio system, door locks (!!), etc.
