Bridging the gap between the Range Rover Evoque compact SUV and the Range Rover Sport models in the Range Rover line up, the Range Rover Velar has been on sale in the Indian market for quite some time now. Some days back we reported that Land Rover has begun the local assembly of this model to make it available at a more affordable price point. This locally assembled Velar goes on sale across all Land Rover showrooms from today. Offered in the R-Dynamic S trim level with a choice of one petrol and one diesel motor, prices of this SUV now start from INR 72.47 Lakh (ex-showroom, India). Land Rover has managed to shave off more than INR 6 Lakh off the ex-showroom price by producing it locally, in India.
Both the engines on offer, come with a displacement of 2-litres and are paired with a ZF sourced 8-speed automatic transmission. The oil burner engine offers 177 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. This translates to a 0 -100 time of 8.9 seconds and 201 kmph. The petrol motor, on the other hand, delivers a power output of 247 horses and develops a peak torque of 365 Nm. 0 to 100 kmph is dismissed in 7.1 seconds and the car will go on till 217 kmph.
The R-Dynamic S trim level comes with a long list of features, including the Touch Pro Duo technology which uses two touchscreens to control each and every aspect of the car. Also on offer are features like Activity Key, Wi-Fi and Pro Services, Meridian Sound System (380W), Four-zone Climate Control, Cabin Air Ionisation, Premium Leather interiors, 20″ wheels with Full-size spare wheel, R-Dynamic exterior pack, Adaptive Dynamics, Premium LED headlights with signature LED DRL, Park Assist and much more.
